Impossible Image statement of Intent Summary

My goal for the impossible image assignment came to life somewhat unknowingly. I created the first image of a shark swimming in a pitcher of water on a table and then decided to play with the idea of scaling animals to ridiculous proportions. This helped me out a lot because at first I was lost and could not seem to come up with anything clever or interesting. As I worked on, still keeping the scale idea intact, I added the element of role reversal i.e. a flea picking gorillas off another flea and a lapdog carrying Paris Hilton in a purse. Overall, I like the way my idea played out as I worked.

Heaven and Hell Statement of Intent

My Hell:

I will describe this one first due to the fact that I always seem to be closer to this side of the spectrum in my life. My biggest fear is loss of control. Stress and emotional breakdowns always seem to occur when they could hurt me the most, and I could imagine nothing worse than an eternity of failure and not being able to take control of my life. I feel like the best way to visualize this would be falling forever. If you’ve ever been cliff diving, you know that strange sensation in your stomach commonly described as butterflies that is only good because you know it will quit when you hit the water and all will be good again. But what if that feeling never ended? Forever in anticipation of the bottom, waiting for that feeling of control again but never being able to attain it. Another way to visualize this could be being trapped somehow. Wanting so badly to be free, but physically or mentally unable to do so.

My Heaven:

The things that enjoy the most are beautiful sounds and sights. These are things that I feel everybody likes but often takes for granted. Having already seen and heard such beauty, I couldn’t even imagine never being able to see or hear it again. Another aspect of heaven for me would obviously be the ability to have control over the things in my life so I wouldn’t have to worry about whether things are going to work out alright or not; just knowing that they will and being content with that.
